Allium cepa Red Baron
This award winning variety is packed full of flavour and stores well throughout the winter months.
The mature onions have a glossy deep crimson red skin with a rich red rim on each rim.
Use in salads, roasts and combined with traditional yellow onions for frying.
Plant outdoors from late February until April, some early planting can be undertaken in January in areas that have milder conditions. Harvest August to September.
Onion sets should be planted 5-10cm (2-4 inches) apart in rows, ensure the distance betwenn rows is 25-30cm (10-12 inches). The sets should be gently pushed into the prepared soil bed leaving the tip showing, then firm the soil around them.
