No one likes being misled but next time you order bulbs online you might want to do a double take. Sadly, we have first hand experience of some bulb providers deliberately misleading customers for their own gain.

Here at Boston Bulbs, every single one of the bulbs that we list on our website is sourced using the best methods possible and has to meet very high standards. To us, this is just sound business sense as a happy customer is a customer that is likely to return in the future. Unfortunately, some bulb retailers take a different approach and prefer to settle for short-term gains.

An example of this that we have encountered in the past, as have our customers, is when an online retailer or mail-order provider lists bulbs that they either don't have or are unable to source. These high-cost bulbs are sold to customers, and then when the bulb arrives it is often a different strain of bulb that looks similar but is not what they actually ordered.

What's more, the bulbs that the customer has ordered often command a much higher fee than the substitute bulb that they have been sent in the mail, therefore leaving the seller with a healthy profit and all at the expense of their customer.

If a customer approaches us to make a purchase of a bulb and we find that it is not available anymore then we will be very clear about this and the reasons why and offer an alternative bulb instead that can meet their needs. However, we make sure that the customer is 100% certain on what they are buying.

We have even seen cases in the past where retailers have listed bulbs that simply do not exist anymore. Some that haven't been in circulation for years and even decades have appeared on brochures and websites.

Equally, there are many cases of customers ordering bulbs online which are the correct variety of bulb but are undersized, which means that if they grow at all they will be weaker than they should be and therefore provide the customer with poor value for money.
